This is a shamanic representation of "The Hunt", combining life, death and the in-between into one deity as a wolf might envision it. From above, the raven leads the hunt. The wolf eats, the deer dies, the raven eats. The deer lives, the wolf starves, the raven eats. The cycle of life and death is eternal, changing from one to the other like the phases of the Moon.
